Here are pics from my 71 convertible bug restoration. Steering wheel may be 1972, but I am having trouble connecting the horn pad to the wheel. Am I missing something? |

Correct: that's not a 1971 steering wheel, that style started in 1972 year.
So too new for me to have any advice. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Bring those things indoors- get the wheel and horn pad warm or it will fight you. And clean all your contacts lest you be mad at yourself for having no working horn.
To warn: avoid the worn ground no horn sound scorn, Bjorn. _________________

Look at all 4 of the tubes and receivers where it clicks in place. Some of the tabs may be broken. Also, strongly suggest taking a smal wire wheel the the horn contact points at each of those places. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.
