Oh my gosh, thank you so much! I'm not kidding, I've been wondering who made this and have wanted one since I saw this movie when I was around 10... and I'm 38 now! Smile
How rare are these? Do they all flatten out like this from an effect of age on the plastic, or do they flatten out from kids mashing on it over and over?

They're made of rubber, and I don't know if you've seen a 60-year-old basketball, but this is what happens. They dry out,
harden, crack and degrade over time. A nicely preserved Steha will set you back a couple hundred dollars.

Mine was beautiful when I found it 25 or 30 years ago, and now it's becoming petrified. I suppose I should have used rubber
conditioners to preserve it better. If you tried to play with it now it would disintegrate.

A couple glass ornaments, but everything else is just cheap toys and Tchotchke.

Introducing a bay window collector

Hi everybody,
since years I´m watching TheSamba but now it´s finally time to register.
I´m owner of a 1977 orange VW T2 disaster control bus and collector of Volkswagen BayWindows models, publicized and sorted by scale and manufacturer.

Before joining TheSamba it was necessary to create a few new options and changes on my website.
Before it was only in German language.
For English, Spanish and France it´s now possible to use the translation button.
.. not really perfect and sometimes a bit strange...

I hope you like it.

all the best for 2018
Juergen

if the attached link did not work please use: www.t2-mini.de.tl

The site looks great. It's nice to see a full listing of bay window models.

Here's one from my collection, listed as a Hoover on your site. This one was sold at Disney theme parks.

Thanks for praising guys, but it´s still not completed.
A lot of gaps to fill every month. But enlightenment will come.
So like the very nice orange Disney Mickey Mouse bus shown by Blue Baron.
Never seen before. Special feature without VW sign at the front.
Will be added next time at HOOVER.

happy aircooled new year
Juergen

Check this out: an Architectural Model from the 60's with several VWs. Seen at an estate sale of an architect's home. The Smallest scale models I have ever seen, less than an inch. The green rectangle at the rear door is a split panel bus, like the one on the side of building. the Beetles are ovals. $332. a bit much for me Smile

I wonder if the cars are Wikings? They are really small.
If so, they can be quite expensive.

They're Arnolds in N gauge, and are from the 1960s. Depending upon the manufacturer (or country), the scale ranges from 1:148 to 1:160.
Arnolds fall toward the smaller end of the scale.

It's great to see an architectural model from my home town. I wonder if the building still exists?

I picked up this MINITRIX Autotransporter full of N scale, 1/160th Split Window VW Sedans produced in the early 1980s.

This set is to represent the early 1950s era of Split VWs leaving Wolfsburg by train . . . Popcorn

This weeks finds, the two Beetles from China are pretty cool for Chinese toys, nice detail and the hubcaps have VW on them. The package graphics are funny "SUPER HOT ROD" "high performance" and best of all "handsome appearance".

Found this Vw camper bus today really dusty haven’t cleaned it off yet but it seems to be plastic. Haven’t seen one before. Can someone tell me who makes this ? Is it a sought after toy ? And ofcourse .... what’s it worth ?

It's an FE No. 229 Vacationland Bus made in Hong Kong in the 1970s. It's great that it still has the rack and luggage.

They were sold in various packaging, through various importers. Here's one on the card that was marketed in Canada.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

The patina adds lots of charm, but unfortunately that doesn't translate to value, as condition dictates price. The luggage is a plus though, so I'd say on a good day it might fetch $20.
