After owning, racing and restoring water-cooled VW’s for 30+ years, I finally bought an air-cooled VW. I’m working on fixing up a 1973 9 passenger Bus, and noticed that there seems to be a lid missing that covers the spare tire under the front seat. I’ve been watching the classifieds here looking for it, but not really sure what to call it and where I can find one. The other issue I’m having is a faulty turn signal - and I’ve found numerous threads addressing that and finding one. Any insights would be appreciated! |

Got it - looks great! At least I know what was supposed to go there. Thanks! |

Can you describe your turn signal issue? The folks here are pretty good at diagnosing TS issues if they know the symptoms. _________________ 1970 Crew Cab |

The turn signal switch actually works but the lever is very loose - like something is broken inside. I have not pulled it apart yet to see what the issue is. Also, the first time I clicked on the high beams, they came on, but then I could not get low beams back. |

the 73 turn signal switch is also something that does not show up very often,
but looking, there is a NOS for sale right now!!! https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2137362
vs a used one for 150 also in the classifds.
the good news, is that there is also an ad for WTB your broken switch. that is how rare they are |

there are a few folks around that I think just gave up on that part! nice snag!
I hope you got the nos one, as a lot of the used ones have the same crack in the switch. |

Yeah, I thought why buy another one that is used and could break. I actually got mine working enough to be able to drive safely, but it’s just a matter of time. |
