Just wanted to Share a few photos of the 1965 bug I just bought.
I owned this car about 12 years ago and just bought it back from the person I sold it to.
The car still has all the original interior from the factory.
Hope you enjoy the photos.

Interesting bump-out on the front overrider bar. Did you have any involvement in creating that?

Wow, you have a great eye.
No it’s always been like this, as long as I have had the car.

I immediately noticed a detail that is not correct for 1965... the horn ring. 1964 and 1965 did not come with a horn ring, just the horn bar. 1966 model year is when it changed.

Great looking example!

How about those tail light lenses though?

You’re right about the horn ring.
But I like the look of this one better.
I put the euro tail light lens on a while back. I kind of like the looks of those but I may put the red ones back on.
I know that would be the correct thing to do.

Beautiful bug! Panel gaps and fit don't get much better than that.

Yeah, I do too. Still, you might want to deduct a point or two off that 100% claim then. Twisted Evil

That's an amazingly beautiful bug right there. It deserves an original, restored Volkzbitz Solex carb vs. the Chinese EMPI. Wink

The amber-topped taillamp lenses were a popular accessory in the '60's- I'd keep them on. Plus, they offer better visibility than the all-red US lenses.

Look at the factory design original beige cloth carpet binding- a detail which is mostly lost with most carpet kits, unless you pay $$$ for a custom-sewn set based on German square-weave material.

This Beetle is directly comparable in originality and preservation with the fine ruby red '65 which Chris Vallone had at his shop in NY a few years ago. I was fortunate to see that wonderful car in person before it went to the new owner. http://www.classicvwbugs.com/65rubyoriginal/

Here's a shot of the curvature on its front bumper towel bar- a gentler, more gradual curve-out compared to the OP's car.

Did you buy it back from Barrett Jackson? Just kidding. What are the plans for the vehicle. Driver, trailer queen.

Yes I will be replacing the carburetor with the correct German carburetor.
I drive the car, no trailer queen here.
If anyone on this forum has a good German carburetor for sale let me know.
Thanks
