I have a porsche 32ndix centermount carburetor on a 1835cc vw dual port and electronic ignition instead of points

the problem ive been having is when at idle my rpms seem to rise 1k and when I give it gas the idle goes back down for a second and slowly raises back +1k rpm, Ive noticed that when I turn my electric fuel pump on and off that fixes the issue of raising 1k till the carburetor runs out of gas.

from what I could gather, there must be too much pressure from the fuel pump causing the carb to get too much fuel and idle up till I give the car some gas and releasing the pressure for a second.

the first thing I did from there was buy a new 42s ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP (MICRO) - 2 PSI / 3.5 PSI - 28 GPH - GASOLINE - FOR CARBURETOR, made by mr. gasket.
the issue was not solved by that, could it still be getting too much pressure?

Fit a Malpassi Filter king and set your pressure to where you want it.

What does the gauge tell you? Are are you just guessing?

I dont have a guage on it

after adding the fuel pressure regulator the problem persists

Looks like the fuel level in the bowl is too high. I don't know how the float bowl /needle valve of NDIX carb works, but there must be a way to adjust it.

How are you measuring the fuel pressure? The cheap round pressure gauges are usually close, but not always. You can never just trust what a dial like that says, assuming that is what you are using.

And I agree that is does sound like fuel level is too high in the carb....

add washer shims under the float valve. The shims have a 1:4 effect on the float height; a .25mm washer will lower the fuel level 1mm. Also check that the float hasn't partially failed..

I put the original needle in from before I rebuilt the carburetor and the problem is solved! so it must have been to do with the float height, the needle that came in the rebuild kit looks slightly longer in height.
