Dad to dad..... It's really good to get kids in habit of good eye and hand protection, every time you pick up a tool. _________________ .ssS! |

Mocked up 17" wheels Will definitely need an alternative for the front. These look great, but are far too wide.
Stoked on the stance, though.
Into the no fun stuff now. Prepping to send to the bodyshop in a few weeks and spent today stripping the front doors. Dreading putting these back together.

Not quite, but he has started his own Aircooled project! Garage now holds the bus and a 65 Manx(ish) buggy. |

Nice work so far. Im doing much of the same myself right now. I am however going in the other direction as far as ride height is concerned. |

I lower my front the old fashioned way, carry a bunch of stuff around
Be interested to see how you rig seat belts up front.
I've noticed a peculiar lack of photos on this forum of front seat upholstery. I have an old high school buddy redoing my buckets this week. I ordered TMI covers years ago and we just noticed they sent earlier model square ones. He'll modify what I have as much as possible. TMI didn't have a photo of their $350 set for later ones. _________________ I know the pieces fit, cos I watched them fall away.

good question on the belts. Should run normal path, inside belts will pull through split in upper and lower part of seat. Shoulder section standard flow as well. |

Back on the bus project.
Always hated the signals on the late bays, so made them go away.
Also cleaned up and blended the tubs.
Final piece before paint is rear quarter replacement. bus had been dragged against something during its life and trashed the rear quarter and fender well. Picked up an complete quarter, but only ended up using part of it.
USing a MIG, so always worried about heat, but I'm pretty happy with the results.
Bodyshop has it now and working their magic.
Big box of TMI showed up. Really happy with the look. Color is Fiat 500 Light green. Interior is light Beige.
Custom narrowed 17" front wheels (4.5" wide with 4" of backspacing to tuck into tubs) came in. Cleaned them up and sending all 5 to powdercoat (satin black.
Next up is restoring the vent wings and some busy work waiting for the body to come back. _________________ 1973 Bus

Doing the tedious stuff while bodyshop has the bus. Restoring vent windows sucked up a bunch of today's time. Stripped, cleaned and painted. Polished the aluminum as much as possible.
New rubber requires hinge rivet be drilled out. Wasn't stoked on that, but found replacement rivets for the hinges as well as the latch. Thanks West Coast Metric!
Rubber is supposedly the good German stuff, fiddly to get into the frame, but a little bit of soapy water and it popped in.
Refreshed unit on the right. _________________ 1973 Bus

Stuck at the body shop for over two months now. Progressing, but painfully slow. Interior is shot, exterior needed more work than expected.
