As far as I know, there is no way to use an O2 sensor reading to see if a cat is plugged. Yes, they can be used to determine if it's working [ie efficient].

Plugged? I'm not sure what that means. From what I was told (or as I understand it), the reading was the same before and after the cat -- say 50 grams (not saying those were the readings).

On the final report, two of the three original codes remained.

If two of the three codes are still in the computer memory, like a hemorrhoid that flares in the night, the CEL WILL be back.

I don't know any codes were left in memory. They were cleared for each subsequent test, and it got down to one code. The last solution seemingly did the trick. I can't imagine after doing all of that they wouldn't have cleared the memory one more time.

At any rate, drove 200 miles today for an out-of-town funeral. No CEL. And a joy to drive. I will be commuting to work the next three days, so that should be around another 400 miles. We'll see ...

You mentioned it in your previous post. I'm just saying, I do not know a way to use O2 sensors to test for a plugged catalyst.

The O2 sensors should not read the same before and after a catalyst either. The only way I know that could happen is if they are both faulty.

I don't know how to respond or what question to relay back as I still don't know what a "plugged catalyst" is.

The O2 sensor was replaced.

I'm teleworking today and tomorrow after all. Still, I have driven nearly 450 miles since getting Beetle back -- some in energetic mode and some hunkering down in the slow lane at 65 cruise control. Oil change due in 1,200 miles at 60k. That's when I can relay my next set of questions.

Thanks.
