Make that one thousand and TWO uses for the miracle tape. After driving for a couple minutes from home to work, after shifting I press the gas pedal and it goes all the way to the floor. DAMNIT, I think I broke the accel cable. Have a quick look-see, the accel linkage clip is missing, wtf?! Mad A few strips of duct tape & 2 minutes later I'm back on the road. Only a temporary measure, but works. Anyone have any good quick-fix bus stories to add to this thread?

went over a bump, and my rusty sliding door falls out of the rusting tracks. unable to get everything realigned to get it back into place, my buddy held it up sort of in the opening, and i wrapped a roll of tape all the way over and under the bus to hold it all together for the remaining 75 miles home.

My 71 Westy about 10 years ago.....

Down in PA, about 6 hours from home. Accelerator cable breaks. We ended up taking the speaker wire out, running it through the inside of the van while a guy was lying on his back using his feet to keep the hatch open enough for the cable to run through.

9 hours later, we made it home.

Funny story,

Back in 1984 I had this nice little baja bug. Me and a friend were going to a party one night when my throttle cable breaks. My buddy jumps on the back, stands on the cage and give it gas while i drive and shift.

When the rpm's got high enough to shift he let off the gas and let me shift. We went to the party that night this way and to a auto parts the next day to get a cable without getting pulled over.

Talk about getting some funny looks while driving down the road.
Sounds unbelievable but it really happened.
