What a find! Can't wait to see how the paint buffs out and the bus with the tent setup. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Neat bus - congrats. I live vicariously through you two... but wouldn't need to if I only had the space to put such fun finds! Looking forward to seeing more on this one... |

Clara I believe you and Greg are officially the Prince & Princess of Westfalia, I just love this. And your fleet of Westy's get the dedicated attention to mechanical detail by yourselves. What great role models for all of us.

Tuesday the 9th January Greg got a 6am flight with Kukko drum puller and brake parts and Carhartt cold weather work wear packed. The deal is that the transport company required it to have a working hand brake and foot brake. The weather forecast had highs below freezing, maybe of 20ish, and lows just under zero F. Sunrise was about 10am, sunset about 4pm. Seller said he could get it moved from his back yard to his work, where there were big trucks stored inside. So Greg could work in a somewhat warmer area. Unfortunately, the bus didn't actually get to the shop till after Greg got there, so Greg went and got lunch.
These are pics he sent me.
It does indeed look pretty complete, (yay!!!!) and mostly unmolested. Damage from weather and a bunch of dings. It probably looked better when parked. Looks like someone took an axe to the nose. It has the cabinet in the back, no fridge. Tow hitch is American, not westy. Back bumper is severely tweaked. Mainly og paint, think a little touch up was done. Engine was a 36hp a year newer than the bus, and did not rotate. Definitely a special paint bus, and the paint is pretty strong.
Greg got the brakes working, and put a drivers door handle on it.
wow!
Greg went over to the sellers house to see if any parts were there. Bus had two og paint rims on it, he found a third leaning on another bus. Another wheel was flat on the ground, but it was frozen to the ground. He couldn't tell if it was for this bus or not, as it was face down. After 15 minutes trying to get it loose Greg gave up. Too freaking cold.
He packed the tent in his suitcase and got a flight home late that night. |

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

Thanks Linda.
The Köln cathedral is simply amazing and truly awe inspiring.
FWIW, The bus has a sticker from Elmendorf AFB which is near Anchorage. |

Clara shot a few hundred photos of this bus before putting it in storage, and then realized there was no memory card in the camera. Oops.
There has been no progress on this bus over the past year, our recent relocation, a ton of housework on two properties, and doing our best to keep up with our customer demands has taken priority over our personal projects. I hope to find time for this bus down the road - no speculation as to when. |

Do you have a picture of the table brackets where they mount to the seat base?
Thanks,
