USA?

I am prepping my 1951 Split Standard for sand blasting and as soon as I remove the badge I see USA written on the OG paint.
Unsure if this was part of the factory to dictate as one of the cars to get shipped to US since it is a Hoffman car as reads on the birth certificate.
Any information on this would be great.

My first '50 Hoffman had a large USA chalk mark.

i don't own a split, but my 56 has some US markings too
