Hello everyone have a good question about a 76 manual trans,
was shifting fine for about 300 of a 600 mile trip and is it now is almost impossile to find first or second...
clutch feels fine third fourth and reverse all work ok no popping out of gear on hills
I just got bus about 2 months ago and wanted to post this for at least a starting point.
Thanks

you got linkage issues. sounds like there may be a worn bushing or two. _________________ OG JHC

Try adjusting your shift plate first on the floor there. 13mm wrench. Just follow the steps either in the Bentley or on old posts. That may help temporarily but I agree probably your bushings. They are easier and cheaper to replace than your tranny! Try those first. _________________ '78 CEII Westy - RIP |

Check your clutch cable. If it was new it may have stretched out considerably. There is a wing nut in the back on tranny that you can adjust. _________________ My Shows:

Agreed. Shift coupler and shift rod bushing issues. If it had happened AFTER you had happened to mess with the shifter adjustment, then that could be suspect, but this doesn't appear to be the case. |
