I just found this 69 deluxe in Oklahoma. It was OG paint and pretty solid so I picked it up. Someone used the motor and trans for a dune buggy in the 90ís. I got a rear bumper for it but noticed the brackets are too short as they donít quite reach the the holes in the frame. Anyhow are there two different kinds of rear bumper brackets on early bays?

That is a 72 one year only rear bumper. Type IV engine with early bumpers.

Today was great weather, sunny and with the clearing of winter trees, I took to the backroads of town to try finding the Bay Window Iíve known of for a couple years.
I had never seen it and havenít ever been able to locate it until today. Knocked on the door to the presumable owner with no luck and left a note.
This thing has been sitting a while, and though it is coded B67 for the early Westy setups, the original stuff is long gone, gutted, and has been given way to the handymanís portable workshop, with an L-shaped table with desk lamps, grinding wheels, vises, etc..Pretty cool setup, though the dreams of finding a complete, dry and solid bus have been set into reality.
Here are the pics I took:

One awesome thing I immediately noticed was the fact that about a decade after rolling off the showroom floor, it found its way traveling the roads of Mexico, noted in the tourist tags of July 1976:

Production on this bus is January 31st, 1968, so sheís early. Crunchy, but early.
And hopefully, for sale.

Agreed, canít say that Iíve seen any like them. The bus also has trucker side mirrors. I meant to look at the plate for the year it ran last, guess Iíll have to go back out there.

^^ Sweet, that bus looks very unmolested, stock and clean.

You should start a thread and post a bunch of pictures!

Congrats.

Hello,
And the winner of the day is twistedbug..... with the blue 71 deluxe.
Sorry CT, but that's a good start on extra parts, catch you in the classifieds.... You should be able to make your money back, plus some. Yet, You've got to start somewhere.....
But, then again. A little chicken wire, foil tape and a whole lot of bondo; covered by a nappy roller paint job and you'll be ready for that E-Bay "Full Resto" Flip..... for say, $20,000 USD... But, don't forget to use a heavy undercoating... on whats left of the under side. And only show it after dark in a dim lit area... it shouldn't last long at all. You know, people are paying crazy money for baywindows these days... Wink Wink
Happy hunting...

Wow.... Tough crowd tonight.

This is ct's chance to try out some welding skills and learn more about buses. It is a $200 self-paced educational opportunity. So rather than telling him to crush it, I say learn all you can from it.

At least have fun with it while you're at it.
And if you get it running, that's a bonus.
