Hello- when I start my 69 bug the generator light stays on and when I pull out the e flasher the engine dies. |
I know you've had a lot of issues with your wiring. Right now, I'd ignore that the E flasher being pulled out causes the engine to die, because when one uses the E flasher the engine is not running anyway !!!
1. Attach DC mulimeter/voltmeter 0-20 setting across the battery terminals, record voltage.
2. Turn key to "run" position, post whether the generator light is lit then.
3. Start engine, rev to about 3000 rpm, record the voltage at that rpm.
4. Post what you find; be sure to tell us if your 1969 has a generator or if someone installed an alternator (post photo of it if you don't know for sure). _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each.
