I found this glass split window Beetle bottle in a Spokain, WA antique store a few weeks ago. Took pictures with rulers to give an idea of size. Have any of you seen one of these before and can share what you know about it?

Thanks for replying Everett! The ones in your picture are different in that they don't have the threaded neck at the back. Hopefully we can both learn more about these. |

I found something that says
Gesch Split Window Beetle Glass Bottle Toy
This may be the original manufacturer? Not sure.
I found this active ad:

Very Old 1950's Split Window Beetle Glass Bottle Price: $55
Very rare original split window Beetle glass bottle from the 1950's !! Measures 6" long and has no markings other than 125ccm on the drivers side door. No cap. It's a great early collectible that rarely pops up for sale. Condition is excellent. Would look perfect in your VW toy collection or display it with your car at the next show. Super hard to find. |
I found these 2 older ads

I thought maybe it was an Avon bottle but I don't know if they came in clear?
Example:
These were originally filled with after shave. |
A little update on my own post:
Here's a better photo of the rear of the Avon, clearly not the same.
I also think it's a 60s bug, not a Split:

German Rum? That's interesting. Thanks for chiming in. Now if I could just find an original cap for it, as seen on previous posts to this thread. A tall order, but one never knows. |

$100 in 1970s collectible money is about $20, maybe less today. Collectible bottles have suffered the worst decline. |
