The Super has a clear stone guard on the front. Is that an aftermarket piece or home made?

I don't recall ever seeing that sort of "guard" (or "deflector") listed in any if the VW or aftermarket catalogs I've looked through over the years. So, first guess would be home-made.

And my initial thought when I saw the title of this thread was going to be the anodized aluminum shield the goes on the fender, not some plastic or Plexiglas sheet!

I do not know how to fix this. All I can say is it all works fine for me with what I use, Firefox.

My 1972 Superbug had a Volkswagen Australia stone/bug guard which covered the entire width of the car front including the headlamps. It attached using the bumper mounting bolts. Picture is circa 1980.

But the operative question is, who marketed that gizmo? Was it VW, or some aftermarket thing?

The stone/bug guard was marketed by Volkswagen Australia as an official accessory. I think I have a Volkswagen Australia pamphlet somewhere showing the guard which I wil try and find.

The one in the first post looks like what was called a Beetle Bouncer over here.
