removed my instrument panel to do a little electrical work (oh my god). when i put it back i screwed the speedometer cable back on and it felt fine to me, but now the speedometer slowly rises to 120 kph when i am driving and stays there. when i unscrew the cable it returns to 0, but when i put it back same thing

1972 ish westfalia delivered panama..... maybe

checked the search and did not find anything on this

make sure the end slides into the square hole for it, and that it is not putting excessive pressure on the pinion by only being partially engaged.

Jacking up the left front wheel and rotating it a bit can help get the cable to align with the gear in the speedometer head.
