Looking for ideas / suggestions on what cam to use for 2276cc in 67 BJ/IRS
T1 Stock body, maybe a bit heavier with roll cage, dry sump set up, 901 5 speed and extra equipment. ideal rev range 3000 to 6000
to be used for dirt rallys and hillclimbs , no drags or daily driver
Rather have a flat torque curve than maximum power at high revs
Specs 82 stroke x 94 bore 1.25 rockers CB l/w lifters 10.1 comp?
heads with match ported manifolds 44mm x 37.5mm valves
57.5cc combustion chambers and 75cc manifold volume
head flow lift cfm
3000 153 4000 186
5000 207 5500 213
6000 222
Exhaust Ahnendorp 1.5 in 900mm long into 2 in merged collector

Hi and welcome to The Samba
Why have you restricted yourself by determining the rocker ratio and CR before you have a cam?
Is the head flow at 25 or 28"? also am I reading that right?
Lift Flow
0.3" 153
0.4" 186
0.5" 207
0.55" 213
0.6" 222

Web 86b will put you at around 0.535" with 1.4:1, will provide many miles of smooth valvetrain and reliably too.

If you're sticking with the 1.25:1 then maybe an Engle w125

CR is about right for either cam.

Stick around, some people that actually know what they're on about will be here soon... So will 5lug Laughing

1.5 exhaust will be restrictive.

UK Luke 72
Head flowed at 25in and yes you are reading it right
Already have new CB Perf lightweight lifters an 1.25 : 1 rockers
compression ratio is about maximum with readily available fuel

jfats808
Can change exhaust, only limitation is ground clearance

any problems with different brand cam and lifter?

thanks for your replies

Make sure you find a cam that is Ep12 blank. Cb cams are made for their lifters.

Oh I see you already have 1.25 rockers and cb lifters. Maybe the CB 2246 would be good.

If you like noisy valves and a shorter than normal valve job life this cam would be good for a person like that. It will make good power if that is the only thing you want.

That eagle 2246 mentioned above has been my all time favorite.
I ran one from 1981 until a couple years ago and always liked it.
I would still be using if my engine had not gotten bigger.

Thanks for info so far,

Any one used a CB 2210
seems similar to 2288 with a bit more lift.
according to CB website it is compatible with my light weight lifters

I did one of the "Bigfoot" cams a few years ago just for fun. There was no nose on the cam. It was a peak. Like a point. I ran it, and it make big power for what it was, but after 5000 miles of noise I pulled it and replaced the guides. I did all the tricks to try and quiet it down, and nothing helped.

With 44mm intakes, 75cc intakes and 212cfm, I think you need a web 86c advanced 2deg. That is a lot of head, and you will need a pretty healthy cam to make them work. Your 3-6k power band it about right. A 1 5/8 to 1 3/4" step header would be ideal. .045" deck and 10.5-11cr will make it all work nice.

Well it is a race car.

What you fail to understand is you can get the same hammer-cam effect (and power-band) by running excess valve clearance with a more rationally designed cams like the Web 86 series.

With the 2292 the only choice you have is to run as tight a clearance as possible to keep it from total destruction. Why give up a tuning tool when you don't have to. The 2292 would be great cam with hydraulic lifters.

The cam I would recommend for 1.25 rockers would be the Web 163 with 12 degrees of added duration. About 262 @ .050"

If you can afford JPM cam, either [email protected]" or [email protected]" with 1.4 rockers
