I have been in touch with Everett personally and I hope he doesn't mind me posting up. I've just had my Patina Volkswagens book agreed by a publisher, which will be published February 2019. It's been a dream of mine to put this book together and the idea is four years in the making.
I'm also casting the net far and wide - looking for high-quality pictures of quality patina cars - stock or lowered.
If you want to get your car in the book, please email me at [email protected]
Please note: pictures needed will be 300dpi high quality - camera phone pics are not suitable.
I'll be happy to take guidance from you guys about cars you think need to be in the book too - I don't spend as much time on the site and forums as I used to and don't want to miss any cool cars. Thank you in advance. |

The main focus is on original patina, but there will be a section on faking the funk too.. |

I just saw an article in March 2019 Volkswagen Camper & Commercial magazine about Mark Walker's book. I see it on Amazon along with another edition on how to get that look which is probably where I'll start. It's too bad other brand autos/motorcyles are not fans of patina or perhaps I'm just not seeing them. Looking back I continue to wish I never painted my bus but there is always a patina bus just around the corner.
Speaking of patina I do hope he covers best vs not best method of preserving patina as I have another vehicle with patina I would like to preserve. I love the panel best. Nice job Mark. I'm looking forward to my copy.
Mark is the panel photo taken on the Bonneville Salt Flats?

Thank you Linda!
I’d completely forgotten I made this post back when I just had a mock-up cover designed!
It was a whirlwind for a couple of years with those books as you can no doubt imagine; the publishers suggested the second (How to) book and yes I’ve tried to give an objective pros and cons rundown on preservation techniques
I must admit, I don’t get on the forums as much as I used to - I’d looked at your project thread many times over the years. I too am at the painting stage (first time ever) on a ‘69 Westfalia I probably shouldn’t have bought, but it was all my budget would allow at the time. I feel your pain with how long everything takes!
Anyway, all the best with it |

I'll check out your build too! Yes takes a long time to work on our projects and if your garage is not roomy it takes even longer.
Is the blue panel photo taken on the Bonneville Salt Flats?

It is taken at Bonneville; the panel is owned by Fabien Becasse.
I must admit I’ve not got around to posting any updates on my project thread; I’ve been posting updates in a Facebook album

Mark I finally ordered both books. Looking forward to their arrival and I'll post my reviews on Amazon. I have 2 classics which are patina finish but neither are VW. My 67 Westy was stripped and painted PPG factory color but as soon as she starts showing wear she too will live as a patina finish.
