You have a nice looking bug, but the first mistake you made was buying a swing axle car...don't get me wrong here, swing axle bugs will do the same job except for a decent rear end lift...if the body is rust free and in excellent shape, then maybe it would be easier to locate a IRS pan and work out all your suspension needs on it while still having a daily driver...install your body lift, new brakes, shocks and tires...I believe that if you located at IRS pan, minus the new tires, you should be able to be in the ballpark of your 1200 budget....once your pan is completed, the body swap will only take a weekend to accomplish.

Did you post this in the wrong topic? He has a 69 pan so IRS and there are no pictures of his bug here?

It's almost an art. Race car shops. Offroad shops. People that could make a living at it. Rednecks with benders. I fit in the last catagory. Read thru this forum. Lots of builds, mistakes, upgrades, and repairs.

I have made up my mind. I am going to convert to a link pin beam which will be 6 inches wider in the front then i will go with 3x3 rear trailing arms. I know this was outside of my original budget but I decided I might as well extend the build time and build it the way I want it. I have gotten a 64 pan for free so I am going to use that pan head so the spacing is correct for a link pin and then when i build a roll cage it'll be stronger. During this time I will be able to look for a bus transaxle. Thanks for all the advice I will post pictures of my build!

A 67 pan uses a ball joint beam. Your spacing will be off
