After months of sitting in the driveway untouched, i finally decided what to do. Subi SWAP!
I cheated and had it done by littlebuggie. He did a great job and for the price, I couldnt refuse.
heres a couple pics
like it lowered but rides like crap. I need to raise it up and get some decent tires.
I have a set of 15x5 sprintstars ready to go.
The original paint buffed out nice.
Im pretty stoked on this car.
Yes, Its pretty fast |

I raised the front end up. Still have to do the back.
Still deciding on tire size. i want the biggest footprint possible.
Those 145s gotta go.
Also thinking i should go with disk in back too to maximize stopping power.

Mike, If you don’t mind me asking, what did it cost you to do the swap? Is your car a 4spd, auto Stick or Automatic? What size motor 2.2, 2.5? |

What were your other options? I ask because I’m strongly considering this option for my Fastback. Thanks, Gregg |

So that got you a full "turn key" setup? Drop it off and drive it away? _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

Thats alot of work for the money. Very impressive. I don't think you need discs in the rear. Just upgrade to a larger wheel cylinder and good pads up front on the discs should be fine. |

Type 3s already have the biggest brakes of the Air cooled VW line. In fact the type 4 also got them.
What you really need is some real rubber on the car, so it'll help stop and corner. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

agreed. I've been trying to take my time to get the right tire setup. I'm raising th car up to almost stok so I can really get the most footprint I can. |

My 65 Notch is down 2 inners in front and stock (but sagging) in the rear. I'm running 195-60-15's on the front with 205-65-15's on the rear. It made a HUGE difference over the stock 165's that I had on it for 4 years. It stops better and handles much better too. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
