Stainless Steel Side Mirror Clamps

Has anyone seen or know where I can find round mirror clamps in stainless steel? I have one and would like to find another.

Ok, I'll say it: I would say where you got the first one! Kidding aside, the Ace Hardware near my house has all sorts of weird stuff. Maybe call around if you can't find it at your favorite hardware store. WW sells them, but I don't know if they are stainless.

I got mine at wolfsburg west.

What does it matter? As soon as you tighten it down it chips the paint off your arm and that rusts.

Thanks for the responses. I will try IZZ's and yes I did ask the guys at the shop where they got them and they thought from IZZ's, but were not sure and thought it was a one time thing. As far as using them on painted arms I agree that the paint chips and there you go..rust, but I running with stainless steel arms as well and when you live a few blocks from the ocean stainless is the preferable way to go.

Stainless is the way to go. I lived in Santa Cruz for 13 years, rusty but not like the East coast. Izzy also has stainless window slider lock channels, very nice addition.

Okay, I'm a dork. Just found IZZ's on the business listing, ya learn somethin new everyday. Good to know about the window lock channels as well. I'm about to redo the seals on my window frames and freshen them up. The stainless lock channels would be cool.

Galvanic coupling ruined the whole idea of stainless hardware for me. Especially on somewhere visible.

Zinc is sacrificial.

We've seen how bolts get rusty when the zinc oxidizes... as it's supposed to.

Then, we improve on it by replacing it with shiny stainless hardware... only to have the base metal become the first to oxidize due to galvanic corrosion. Then your stuff really turns to crap. Better to just switch out the hardware with fresh zinc plated steel... if it really bugs you.

It all depends...

A little mirror clamp corrosion over time is OK = do nothing

Needs to look great: (some combination of the following)
1) paint, wax, clearcoat, etc.
2) replacement schedule
3) keep it garaged / babied

To avoid base metal (your bus body)... use fasteners that will be sacrificed or are the same metal.
Minimize the difference in electrical potential when selecting fasteners.
You'll see (column 1 / row 3) in the chart below... with the steel bus body and the zinc plated mirror clamp... the engineers designed the bus body to outlive the zinc coating on the mirror clamp.

Here's a chart I put up in a Hehr jalousie window thread... when someone was using stainless screws or rivets. (so in this instance, ignore the red/green & just check out the chart)

I buy the T-9 stuff by the gallon, but you can also buy a $10 bottle. I live in a VERY humid/salty environment and I fight corrosion on everything. I have tried lots of products, but have become loyal to the two listed above. Lots of aluminum fastened by stainless hardware here, that also gets exposed to salt. Even my tools are coated with T-9....

Thanks easy e, that chart has me nervous because I used stainless screws on my Jalousie windows and you probably were the one to tell me not to.
