Every Friday, me, the wife and several friends walk to our local brewery, about 1/8 of a mile away. We have our favorite beer, Coconotorious, or how it is ordered at the bat, Co co! Love that stuff.
My next favorite is their Coffee stout, really strong cocoa tones that melt over your tounge. My mouth is watering.
Brewery is here in Huntington Beach, 4 Sons Brewery. It is run by a Dad who struck it rich on the stock market, cashed out, pulled his four sons into his dream and now they all make beer for a living.
Awesome place!!!! _________________ Jimbo

Diaster06, another Samba member in the 68s up, brews beer at his home. I have had the pleasure to be given one of each of the last two brews. First one was a dark carmely, smooth amber like beer. The next batch was a smoother version of the first. Good beer and fun to have a beer handed to me with no label or any markings. Just a few descriptive words and the words, "try this one, i just brewed it." Good stuff!
Now, I got to get these back to him, quickly, so that I got a shot at the next brew!!! _________________ Jimbo

A very pleasant surprise.
Picked up a 15pk of Founders Brewing Azacca IPA..
A very solid good IPA.. especially for the $15 price..
I even dig the label...

I used to make my own beer and I was lucky enough to hook up with someone with over 20 years experience. First thing he told me, ditch the bottles use the 5 gallon stainless corny kegs. You can dispense that down into a growler to send home with friends. Get off the kitchen stove and buy a propane burner the type used for turkey fryer, and use a 10 gallon stainless pot. He used an actual keg cut off one end.
Start to finish 4 hours to brew 10 gallons it’s a lot of work but it was fun. He had a dedicated chest type freezer turned down to 40 degrees and it can hold a bunch of corny kegs at once. A misconception about freshness but some beers get better with age. Beer smells good when you are making it too. |

I was suspicious of this beer being that I don't care for SN much anymore but I thought it was good! _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

I was selling some equipment last night around 6pm in an industrial park where it was being stored and the first thing the buyer says to me is where's the brewery. He could smell it. I couldn't smell a thing. After the sale we found it two buildings away and had a really nice Barrel aged brown ale on tap. It was delicious.

I am curious if you feel your tastes changed, or they changed their beer somehow? Been a fan if their beer for a couple of decades, so I wonder. _________________ nothing |

More than likely it was my tastes changing. I switched from SN to lagunitas IPA and even that is too plain for me now. Im really liking the NE style IPAs recently _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Thanks for the tips, I’ll forward it on to him.
There was a business here in town called Brew Bakers. I had my 38th birthday party there. They had it set up to allow a person or group to brew your own beer. They would then process and bottle the brew. I choose a Chocolate Stout. Love dark beers! Freakin thing was awesome. Made 3 cases of it. Took me three months to drink it all. Damn good beer.
I need to look that place up again. The Bakers part was a Pretzel baking part of the business. As we were pulling the ingredients and throwing them in the kettle, they were feeding us fresh baked pretzels! They were warm and went with the beer on tap. Was a great party!!!! _________________ Jimbo

Finally got hold of a Heady Topper by Alchemy Brewing in VT. For several years rated the best beer in the Nation, and within top five in the world. #1 in the world one year, I think. An IPA, it was really good, but didn't blow my skirt up commensurate with all the accolades. I'd get some again, but wouldn't wait in line as many reportedly do. |

Close to home here is Nectar Creek, they specialize in session meads. Delicious! Made from honey(flavor depends on type of honey, blackberry, strawberry, ect) yeast and water. _________________ '63 Ragtop |
