I recently had a chance to purchase a rare beast. I’m learning a lot just based off of observation. A little background on this sweet ride...

This 1967 Notchback originally ordered from Germany by the Grandmpa of the gal I recently bought it from. Gramps enjoyed the car from new and passed it down to his son who drove it for a while until handing it down to his daughter who I bought it from. She drove it through high school and when she went away back east to college in 1992 the car was parked on blocks in the back yard and tarped. I removed it from its blocks towed it home and how you see it in these pictures is how it came home. The car has 77,475 original documented miles. At some point in the 80’s the car had a very poor exterior only respray. As for the motor I have not confirmed correct number time frame yet but do see it’s got Weber ICTs on it instead of the factory solex. As for my plan with the car.. I’m not really sure! Since it’s in mostly survivor condition maybe a nice mechanical restoration with an exterior respray and replace the rubbers.

Now for the “Standard” stuff
The following are some of the differences to the norm that I’ve noticed

- seats appear to be original fabric and have buttons
- door panels have bug armrests
- vent window frames are painted blue body color
- stationary quarter windows
- vent dash slides are black
- front and rear trunks don’t have side lining
- front trunk has basic black rubber mat

A couple ? Marks I’ve got are
- rear view mirror is plastic like 68?
- rubber mats on floor is that normal for 67?
-missing ash tray insert would it have been a black pull?

NICE find Joel. Please don't patina this one- it's a rare bird for USA.

Now to answer your questions and add a few things:

A couple ? Marks I’ve got are
- rear view mirror is plastic like 68?
***Yes, that's a rather rare anti dazzle option mirror. If it's NOT an anti- dazzle mirror, then it's been replaced.

- rubber mats on floor is that normal for 67?
*** For a Standard, yes.

-missing ash tray insert would it have been a black pull?
****Yes

Additionally, a Standard should have no clock (a blanking plate in its place), single speed wipers, and a single sidedraft 1500. I've seen Standards with bullet signals and reflectors and no beltline trim too, but '67 may have been different.

Also- keep in mind that options could be special ordered, even on a Standard, so best bet is to get the birth certificate.

Ah, that's what Neil's car is for. Rolling Eyes

I'll help you with it and steer you right. I guarantee once you drive it you'll never slam another car on earlies again... Laughing

George, one more converted. Joel tram talked me into keeping my notch stock as well. I figure when it's a car many won't ever get a chance to see in it's stock form as owners it's up to us to restore back to stock. And I have plenty others to slam on earlies.

Can you post a pic of the black vent slides? I can't remember ever seeing that.

I feel like the seats would not have buttons, maybe those were added?
Do the front seats match the rear seat?
Wondering if the seats were recovered...

Everett, you can see them here:

Upholstery looks original to me but I've never seen contrasting buttons in the seat bottoms before... matching buttons in the backrest, yes.

There also was a Standard steering wheel that I forgot about that looks like a smaller version of a Bay Bus wheel. Not 100% sure if that is applicable for '67 but think it is.

What's the air vent thing under the glovebox, Joel?

It'll always be your car. I'll convince him to slam it, get custom "KNEEL" license plates for it, and do the rear trunk lid like your avatar... a "tribute" car! Very Happy

Here is a few more pictures. Literature, black vent levers and the seats. The front and rear fabric are the same. The front seats had wool seat covers on them until just a few years ago. Family said the covers were original.

And the box mounted to the underside of the dash is a space heater.

I don’t need convincing 😜. I’ve acually got a set of narrowed type 3 control arms to go on it. Keep that factory type 3 beam under it.

is the rear seat wider, since it has no armrests? Those black vent knobs are cool.

Rear seat does look different. It doesn’t have that bump out that would go around the armrest.

As a '67, it's interesting to see that it's got a single pot reservoir and probably a single circuit master cylinder.

I have 2 NOS sets of those black slider knob things - have only seen them on one car before this one.

Interesting ride for sure.

When did they stop using the hood rod/prop. I see the opening on the rear hood for it, but no rod.

I think the props were 64-65 only or maybe even 64-only.
