Thank you. The PO drilled out the lock to open it. I hope I can find another one. It's the Mac 261-8118

Yes you are right..he drilled out the cylinder. The lock still works but you have to play with it to get it to open and close

Just bought this little beauty to be towed by our bus Sunshine. Can't wait until spring to go road tripping with this combination!

Can someone take some dimensions for me of these two ? And possibly a closer view of them.

Hi All,
I have an opportunity to pick up a very nice trailer (See photo), but have no clue of fair value. It is described as a '68, been garaged and from photos, appears to be in excellent shape. What do you folks think its worth?

I can't believe I just found this thread! There are already a bunch of pics of my trailer on page 1 because I bought it from Jason Smile (it's the one with the rigid, uncollapsable tall tent frame and grey canopy with the "NL" sticker on the rear side of the trailer)...but I love the idea of a collapsible tent frame akin to poles for the side tent. Whereas I feel like I could fabricate that pole set, do you (or your European contact) ever come across those pole sets?

Also, I'm interested to hear if you have sources for the tilt canopy? I don't need a replacement now, but thought it would be a good idea to pick up an extra if they were available.

I just used the trailer on a 14 hour roundtrip highway drive last Saturday to grab a Steib sidecar project in North Carolina. Even at 67 or 70 MPH the Essen tows like it's not even there. It's a bit tricky to back up due to the very short trailer tongue, but in tough situations I usually just disconnect the trailer, reposition the bus, and reconnect the trailer. Wink

Thanks,
- Doug

P.S. Jason, I ended up rolling with 32 PSI in the trailer tires for the trip.

Check this website for price references, I thought he was expensive, but I have lately seen other Westfalia's for sale at e.g. Aircooled Winterfest for the same amounts.
