When taking the body off, what are the ideal things to do?

Such as, what are the ideal areas to cote with POR-15, is that stuff even the best stuff to use?

I'd like to focus mainly on getting the A arms going, but if the skeleton is rusting it seems its important to get the rust.

I've heard there are areas that you cannot coat with por -15 or it will lock up threads and such, any other precautions?

Is it a big job to take the body off and treat the rust? how much would a shop charge for this?

am hoping for something like a joe smo' could do it in a weekend, and how. What all is needed and what isn't? Whats the best rust resistant coating for long term thrashing offroad?

Step 1. Find a bug

Step 2. Buy a bug

Step 3. Take pictures from step 2.

Step 4. Evaluate pictures from Step 3.

etc...

Plain old Rustoleum primer and paint is better than what the factory used. Also, not all beetles are rust buckets. Get the car first, then address the problems that car has.

This one needed new pans and some minor patches due to a PO getting a little carried away with a cutting torch.

Ever heard the term: paralysis of analysis? Make a choice. Good bad other.

Nobody goes from zero to fully rust-proofing and rust-abating in a weekend.

“Follow. the. aforementioned. steps.” Write this on your forehead and refer to it often.

He wants a Rust free, A-Arm conversion with 20 inches of travel, Baja. Oh and someone told him that a Baja Bug would be a more economical and reliable daily driver than a modern Honda Civic. If you read his plethora of other trolling he has next to no mechanical skills or know how and refuses to take advice...And feels 4K is a generous budget for what he wants.

Everybody...

Go to his profile and get list of his messages, at least a dozen starts of last year or two, all asking same question, always getting same answers.... Think his memory and thinking process is short as it gets.... I don't want to label him as a troll, but if the shoe fits....

Greg, what's the bottom line here? Are you actually ever going to buy a bug or are you just going to keep asking the same questions?
