Hello everyone i took off and disassembled my 34 pict 3 carburetor to clean it out an replace some of the parts. as i’m putting it back together everything went smooth as planned except for one little tiny screw. the hole seems to be stripped because the screw just keeps spinning. it’s the little hole to the top left of the pilot jet. i circled it in he picture. i’m lost on what to do to get that back in the hole. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That's the hole for the plug that covers the auxiliary fuel jet.

I do not know how to fix this. All I can say is it all works fine for me with what I use, Firefox. |

yeah i just figured out which jet it is but do you have any idea what to do since the screw is not going in? seems like the threads inside the hole are messed up? as i turn the screw all it does is spin. doesn’t seem to want to catch the threads |

Well, it's just a hole plug, it doesn't do anything else, so as long as that tiny little auxiliary fuel jet is properly in place inside the carb, you could use a small amount of cement on the threads or just cover the entire plug to keep it in place. _________________ Andy T.

You're welcome. It's not like I haven't used a bit of JB-Weld in the past on carburetors... (That poor old 34PICT-3 I used to run on my Baja bug got so hammered by back-roads driving, that the idle cutoff solenoid worked loose more than once and buggered up the threads. Since I had long ago cut the plunger off the end of it, it was essentially a "hole plug" itself... it got to the point that I had to either throw the carb away or use JB-Weld to glue the remains of the solenoid to the carb. I chose the latter. ) And I've seen more than one carb over the years where the venturi plug on PICT-3 carbs got loose and was then re-secured in place with a coating of JB-Weld. _________________ Andy T.

sounds like a fun time haha. figured everything out and the screw is back in the carb my brother took a look and tried to clean the threads up enough to get it in there and luckily enough it went in. just need a new barrel nut and back on the car it goes. hopefully i didn’t mess it all up i’m pretty much brand new at this stuff |
