Last summer I bought out a small VW junkyard and ended up with very solid 65 body, no nose, doors,or apron. It was too good to cut up (perfect heater channels), so it weathered the winter until I got a very solid 73 pan. I dug through my pile of parts and came up with enough stuff to get a start on a Volksrod. Still needs a trans and I think I will build a 40HP as a tribute to its origins.. _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Single pop out quarter window and bad-ass Anson 5 slots, 15" in back and 13" in front. I'm not going the beam extender route and will keep its "attitude" on the high side.

Well the body is now attached to the pan w/new seal, ordered new windshield, , found a great 7 gallon square gas tank, and some really cool lowback seats out of some German car. Will get pics soon.. _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Well, yes! I just got the trans back from my shop ( thanks Mr. Gas ). I had to swap the nose cone to the 3 bolt style. I also have a decent used 1600 awaiting my attention. Been collecting small parts along the way. As I get a break between customer cars it will see the shop floor. Maybe street time by summer. _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Got a good start on the wiring, sealed the floor with POR15, greased the beam etc.

I put the trim back on, I'm just going to wax up the OG paint ( mostly blue ). The body has ZERO rust! I may have a problem with the engine, crank turns..distributor does not. I ordered a gear puller, hopefully its simple ( like the gear not engaging ). The pan is IRS. I went with a 1600 DP so it would move better. It will have heat since I have excellent channels. This is no car show queen, shooting for daily driver status.

Well, the blasted distributor drive gear will not come out, the more it moves up the shaft, the more it freezes up. The bottom end was a bit of an unknown, it had an aluminum pulley that sheared off shortly after rebuild ( I got it cheap ). I a-feared that cam mayhem ensued. Crank turns great etc. Time to tear everything apart and split the case. Wiring is done! I'm going to mount a single "Jeep" style wiper up high on the drivers side, maybe Volvo wagon hatch window. _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |
