Most automotive-parts stores sell the dip pan for such leaks. Basically, it a large cookie sheet with turned-up edges. I haven’t priced one, but I can’t imagine they’re too expensive. When the thing gets too much oil in it, wipe it down with paper towels and start over.

Not specifically for VW, but we have a few sheets of old plywood that goes under leaky autos outside. Even the leaf blower doesn't move them more than a few mm at a time. |

I use a folded up plastic tarp with some patio blocks on it.
