I have quite a few seats I have got in a parts lot and have a guy interested in a set. Now I have one bug set and want to make sure they aren't convertible seats so that if he comes to get them, they don't turn out to be the wrong ones. How can I tell the difference?

The back seat on a convertible is narrower (and the bottom has a heavier frame) than on a hardtop ... front seats are the same.

Any other ways? I don't really have access to my seat to compare. Measurments might help.

Since you don't have access to these- are you going to provide the buyer with our measurements so he can verify for you what you have to sell?
Did I understand you right?

I'll measure and weigh my vert seats for 20% of the total sale- anything less kinda makes you sound a little lazy. Wink

No Hitest... I have the seats I'm selling. I want to use measurements to confirm they are sedan seats. If they aren't I will tell him I don't have the correct seats for his car.

So did we ever decide if they were for a vert? I think they aren’t.

Is this like Shark Tank? I'll measure my 1971 convertible seats for 18% plus a royalty.

OK. let's see if we can put this dog to rest.
The rear seat back portion of my 1960 convertible is----
41 1/8"wide on the back side of the seat, tapering down to 36 5/8" and it's
46.75" wide at the two mounting points.
These measurements are not exact, but pretty damn close.

The bottom seat is----
46" at the front part of the frame bottom and
45" at the rear part of the frame bottom.
I think the rear seat might of grew a little after "67 I know VOLKSWAGNUT / Ken has posted this info on year change, but I'm too lazy to search for it.

And Cusser, I'll give you 6.5% of the Royalty, just because I liked your question.

Edit: Dang I just reviewed this thread, hitest you get 6.5% as well Shocked

I'm in Arizona, my sister lives in Las Vegas, so I might visit her there again "someday". So I might settle for a beer !!!

I'll donate a portion of my commission to a local "home" as soon as I understand this fully:

Seller of seats has access to seats he has for sale, but has not offered said measurements for make benefit the glorious people of the samba.

However, two and one-half months later we again are asked to measure our seats and create an all-seats from all years database from which seller can arrive at a casual determination of fit (perhaps from the perch of a comfy Ergo office chair, gently lit by the warm glow of the monitor as the beer is sipped with slippers crossed). Am I close? I still feel a 15% coming my way.

Dancing You should know I'm just funnin ya- so I still ain't a gonna measure me seats

Lovethatconvertible, thanks, I’ll go dig up the seats and get measurements and compare. Hitest, I don’t really have access right now. They’re buried in the shed so I have to clean the whole thing out to compare right now. My bug seats are on a loft covered in stuff too so no way to get those easily. Your description of me is pretty accurate though Laughing just swap the beer for a Pepsi (not 21).
