I'm investigating the possibility of using 356 studs on my VW project (I've read that equal length studs are preferable to the un-equal length that were used on VW's). I would appreciate it if someone would post the following information:

1) Total length of 356 stud
2) Length of head bolt
3) Width of head bolt

I'm playing with the idea of using 356 studs and nuts on my VW. I've purchased a used stud and long nut, and it like it will work. Before I go spend > $300 on nuts, I'm wondering if someone can tell me where the long nuts seat. Do the nuts seat at the top or the bottom? I'm asking because I've seen 25HP recessed nuts that look like they seat at the bottom, and the top is only there to keep oil from leaking out.
