not sure if there is a rear shot, but ORIX were made in Barcelona wit a 610cc 2 cylinder horizontally opposed engine:

yup, an Orix it is, about a dozen were made, I don't know of any surviving example of the beetle-like body (there's a survivor but looks nothing like the pictured one) |

The article made two interesting points which cry out for additional confirmation.
One was that when the Beetle-like model was introduced at the Barcelona Fair in 1954, VW complained that it was a copy, but that the designer (Juan Ramirez) was able to convince VW that there were substantial differences, and VW did not pursue the matter.
Second, Ramirez had scheduled a meeting in his home with businessmen regarding financing for a factory to build the Orix. He was leaving his shop when an Orix owner showed up needing help with his car. Ramirez worked on the car, and by the time he was finished and went home, the businessmen had left, and that was allegedly the end of the Orix project.
Just leaves me with a feeling that there's more to these stories.... _________________ Central Jersey VW Society
