Got to drive this van from CA to Denver then home to PA this summer and fall. Great trips and ran okay but struggled over the Rockies (not unexpected. This winter the cold weather resulted in a frozen transmission b/c a cover(?) below the shifter filled with water and was a solid block of ice for a month or so. When it finally warmed up, my mechanic drilled a hole and drained the water out - any ideas where the water may have come from?

Part two the transmission shifter won't move from D to 3, 2 or 1. I have driven it a few miles since the big chill and it runs okay. Is this inability to physically shift out of D a problem?

In case anyone is interested i learned that to shift from D to 3,2, or 1 the button on the shifter has to be pushed in only half way. Only cost me breakfast for the crew at Mayer's in Philadelphia.

Still a mystery how the water got in. Should be good until next winter. Very Happy
