Very, very sorry to read this. I sure enjoyed Toms posts, his wisdom and his split lifestyle between his vanagon, bay window, Hawaii and skiing. He had a lot of experience in what I consider a great lifestyle. Condolences to his fami,y and friends. Wish I would have met him in person. _________________ 71 Westy 1600 DP, all stock Bus 1

Sad to hear. RIP Tom!
Did not have any direct interaction with Tom on the site but I know I've read a lot the info he provided and many a threads, a small part of him will live on because of this. _________________ In search of a Vanagon

So true. I never knew Tom outside of Samba, but I learned to always pay
attention when a post showed up from TP... it was always worth the time.
Peace & strength to his friends & family.

Here's another email from Tom's Daughter
Gary,
Thank you for posting that on the Samba. I shared it with the rest of the family. I'm sure my dad has a big smile on his face right now. A little bit surprised and a little bit proud.
I shared this cartoon with my dad years ago after he joined The Samba. He didn't really get it at first, but after he realized that he logged in to The Samba first thing in the morning and last thing at night and loved the forum and the people he met through it, he GOT it. |
Very sad news, great cartoon
It sums up how I wish I could meet everyone here. hmmmm.... we are heading off for an indefinite road trip
I learned from Tom. He will be missed. _________________ ~Kevin

Gary - is there a fund to send money for flowers to the funeral from the Bay community? _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Damn.
I just spend a bit in the search here looking for my first interaction with Tom… He was teaching me how to install an accelerator cable. Damn.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Tom. He projected a positive and helpful virtual self in these forums and it’s nice to know that endeavor will live on in those postings. He’ll be missed. _________________ '91 Westfalia, Bordeaux Red Pearl 2.1L 2wd Auto
