As seen in the 1964 spanish movie Fin de semana, filmed in Madrid.
The car has lots of familiar styling cues from other cars which remind me a little of Wendler, a 550 and it even has a fender brow like a Rometsch Beeskow (or 300SL if you will)

Looks very much like a Tatra 602.
possibly modified for civilian use after 4-5 years of racing?

thanks, it definitely looks a lot like it! It doesn't seem like they built many of these, and how it got to Spain at the time and who modified the body for street use remains quite a mistery for now |

reading a little more about the T602 it seems like they built 2 of them and they were both destroyed in accidents....while at the same time there is one in a museum (the one pictured) , intriguing to say the least |

it seems more and more unlikely that this would be a Tatra when you look at it closely and when you learn about the fate of the two T602 (the one in the museum is a replica turns out)
somebody must have seen this car before |

Could be a prototype for the Mach 5

My guess would be a fiberglass body and maybe a modified kit car body?? I have to look thru my collection of kit car pics but in 1962 they had some to choose from. |

Yes!
The coachbuilder's grandson contacted me and we are now collecting family photos and possible technical data.
As a preview, a photo of its manufacture in the mid-50's

Way cool. I like some of the one offs and how creative these people were.
I could never do work like this. |

is that a cut-down beetle in the background that the outer body fitted onto? _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut
