Heh everyone
I recently bought a 67 bus with no wipers or back plate/motor
I managed to get one but when it arrived I could see its not wide enough (about 4 cm short)
Checked the serial no.s and the wiper motor 211955113g is for a 67 Wiper motor and the back plate 211955605a is for a 65 bus back plate!
Ive read that a 67 motor cannot fit a 65 plate. is that correct as it would appear it can?
Im thinking of buying a rather over priced back plate from a store so want to be sure this motor will actually fit!
any advise really appreciated on this. also if anyone has a 66/67 back plate for sale let me know
Or if anyone needs a 65 back plate im your man |

Oh right...I did wonder if the spindles would make any difference but seemed a large gap to fill plus when I searched on custom and commercial UK site they had the 65 part with the same serial no. but the 67 part they list has a different serial (although looks identical)
Dont suppose you know the measurements from centres of the spindle holes?
Thanks for your help..things are looking up again |

I have 1 of them and have found a place here in the UK that does them, so hopefully all will go to plan. |

Colleagues,
I have passenger bus of 1960. Wiper assembly is missed. I want to make 12V wipers. Could you tell, is it good idea to look for later wiper assembly (66-67) already with 12V and install in 1960 bus? In other words are there need to make any changes in body of 1960 bus in case to install later wiper assembly?
Regards,

Or install 6 volt wiper with 12 volt to 6 volt converter/reducer. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

For a 60, you can use a 55-64 wiper motor. 55-60 have screw terminal, 61-64 are spade terminals. These are plentiful and inexpensive.
IMO the best solution is to buy a 12V armature. I have used this and it works well. The wiper motor could use a cleaning and new grease inside anyway.
$39:

You may want new wiper pivots as well.
The old school method is to install a voltadrop between the switch and the wiper motor. I have done this, after the 6V motor went so fast the linkage would pop apart when using the wiper on my first splitty, a 59 that was 12V with the 6v wiper motor.
I think installing a 12V 67 motor is possible, but...
1) they are harder to find.
2) you also need the switch and wiring switch to motor for the 66-67 two speedo motor
3) framework and pivots are different, you need the complete assembly. Then you need to fix the wonky linkages and install new pivots.
4) I have not done this myself, but heard you need to 'massage' that is dent in, the heater vents for defrost to get the 66=67 assembly to fit.
5) I wonder if there is problem with 67 assembly fitting with early parcel tray.
The framework, backing plate, motor, and pivots are unique for 65, and do not interchange with the 66/67 assembly.
67 is the same as 66, except 67 is 12V.
On a 66 it is an easy conversion to use a 67 wiper motor, straight bolt in, and uses the same 2 speed switch.
My 66 kombi: The parcel tray has a V to clear the wiper assembly.

Ya, I remember someone saying they used a variable speed switch adjuster thingy, forget the name, with a 6V motor on 12V. From the mailing list days. Seemed interesting. |

Here is the one we have been using for a couple of years now:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-6V-90V-15A-Pulse-Width...SwxbJZgpfj
It has enough (10 AMP continuous, 15 max spike) amperage capacity to work with the wiper motor without burning up. Plus will work with 6 or 12 volt.
This unit controls the motor by how often it is grounded per minute. So the voltage is not changed.
Had to unsolder one wire in the motor and drill a small hole for a new wire going into the casing.
Need to add a bypass switch just in case the PWM fails and just need the wiper at one speed. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |
