Drove to th next town and took out the money from our scant savings.
Now my wife wishes she wouldn’t have given me the passbook so I could withdraw.
The tally
No engines
one has trans
One is missing a door and hood
One pair of seats
Rims x4
gas tanks are ruptured by salvage
Floors are rusted out
No deck lids

I have to get them out tomorrow
I don’t have a trailer
I have a 3/4 ton pickup with a flatbed
The bugs will be strapped to 4 foot by 12 foot pallets
Anyone live in south central Missouri?
Help would be appreciated

Do you get titles?

The steering wheel, glass, wheels, and seats you got are worth $400. The one pictured looks ok, just depends on rust in the heat channels, pillars, and inner fender wells.

You can source OG hoods, decklids, etc from VW salvage yards if you decide to get one back on the road.

Glad you saved them. It would be great to see them back on the road.

Sorry it was so hectic I didn’t get pics of both
Pillers at doors look good pan heat channels at gone bottom of door is gone skin is mint
Where the body meets the deck opening is good on both bugs
Black bug has door handles without button
Green has buttons
Will get bill of sale with vin #
Should be able to go to court for the titles

Nice work! Especially on the 58/9! I'd lend all my support if I were closer.

Good save! I remember in like, '87 or so, buying a '62 ragtop with the sunroof hole taped up from a guy dolly-towing it straight to the crusher. Paid $75.00 Very Happy

In the first pic I like that 6-lug straight truck frame - wonder what truck it was under?

Nice save! Even if they just end up being parts cars they will help save other VWs. At $400.00 you will be in the black no matter what. If you get titles, even better.

Uncut dash. Sweet.

I'm not sure of your transport method. Kinda looks like something you'd see in a developing country Shocked

I think I rented a 4 wheel trailer from U-Haul for like $75 bucks.

They are definitely in the relm of saving. Especially if the OP can secure titles. Whatever happens with them, it's better than the crusher!
