Does anyone make or have modified a front / side window shade to work with truck mirrors? Looking for ideas. |

I assume you are asking about an external shade that wraps around the front windshield to the side windows? If so, i do not have any suggestions, just trying to betterunderstand the question.

Bacon. Works the best, and smells nice after a long drive! _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

Wish I'd known it was a joke before packing the entire fleet.

My experience with this cover, is that the magnets that hold it on come loose when the wind blows, and will scratch the paint, also it is hard to open the front doors. Under ideal conditions they work great. |

Don't use bacon grease on the magnets. Greasy scratches will happen. |

Looking for some rear brake advice. About 1k miles ago I had my rear drum brakes replaced with brand new Zimmerman drums. All seemed well for about 500 miles then they began to squeal with any hard braking. The shop that installed them found glazing and cut the drums (whatever that means) after I made it very clear e brake was not left on. The squealing has returned. No noise or resistance when not braking and if I am gentle applying brakes it doesn’t happen. The shop thinks that it has to do with the brake design and may go away as brakes wear in. In my experience car problems rarely heal themselves. Only the passenger rear makes this sound.
Any advice? _________________ 1968 Karmann Ghia Convertible

Did you replace shoes too? How many miles do you have on the set up? |

There's some truth to that but *only* if you match revs on downshifts! _________________ ‘84 Westy, 2.1L with Digijet, 5.43 R+P, GT Gears

Alright, lets say for example you take off a 30+ year old 13mm nut. It has some dirt/corrosion on it. Like on the radiator brackets. Call me crazy but I take the time to take a wire wheel grinder attachment and clean these bad boys up. However I think I might be taking off the galvanized coating off? Should I not be doing this?
On some brackets that has rust, ill take the wire wheel to it, prime it with Krylon, and paint it black with Krylon.

FWIW, I tend to do the same (wire wheel & reuse fasteners) but include a touch of anti seize which also discourages corrosion...

Beat me to it, Racer Dave.
I see little point in putting anything back together dirty... not to mention it's easier to see cracks or other impending failures when clean.
Anti-seize is great stuff, I use the Permatex copper stuff but there's probably a bunch of other great brands, too. _________________ ‘84 Westy, 2.1L with Digijet, 5.43 R+P, GT Gears

New shoes, new everything on the rear brakes. Only squeels on the right side. _________________ 1968 Karmann Ghia Convertible
