Hi Everyone,
Can someone tell me what wheels these are in this picture and are they a staggered setup or would the tire size make them look like a staggered setup?
This car belongs to a member on this forum and I've tried to PM them, but have not heard back. In their original post it says the tire sizes are:
Fronts: 135's (with 2" white wall inserts)
Rears: 165's (with 2" white wall inserts)
It is the exact setup I am trying to duplicate on my car but I don't want to order the wrong wheels. JBugs.com has the following wheels that might be the ones in the photos but I can't tell?
http://www.jbugs.com/product/500-8020-S.html (what is the difference between these 15x5.5 "smoothie wheels and the 15x5.5 wheels below?)
or
http://www.jbugs.com/product/500-8020.html (wider rears)
or
http://www.jbugs.com/product/500-8000.html (narrower fronts)
Thanks,
Ryan

They look staggered 4.5" & 5.5" to me but I don't drive a Bug. I have 185X60 & 205X70 on my 5.5" wide 2.0 liter aluminum wheels on my squareback, but 2.0 liter are flatter faced than those chrome wheels I would put at least 165X60 on the front of any car I own/drive. First you buy the wheels you like then you fit the proper tires depending on how low it is. I like to buy good used pairs of tires when I am experimenting. Don't go lower than 60 Series profile to avoid the rubber band look tires IMO. Study these 106 pages of tire/wheel/suspensions etc to decide what you want to buy.

There is no difference in these wheels, I am pretty tight with a company who custom builds these wheels but they are fully smooth. I just ordered 15x5 front and 15x6 for the rears for my '73. Their ideal tire size with 5's and 6's are 155/60 for the fronts and 195/60 for the rears.

Here is a link to the company on Facebook, they have a diagram that will cover anything you ask for. They will make the wheels in whatever size you want, customer service is great I know the owner personally. If you have any more questions PM him and he can answer any question you have. I know that I am not answering your exact question, but I hope I could help anyway possible.
Company is located in Clemmons, NC.

Smittys are very nice wheels, but also pretty pricey. Set of 4 are going to run you $600 plus shipping. Also, they will make them in any whole size you want. They do not and will not make 1/2” sizes. Not a deal breaker by any means but should be noted. Also 195/60’s will drop your rear wheel diameter by 1 1/3” from a stock 165. A 205/65/15 is about the closest you can get. _________________ 1960 Indigo Blue Ragtop (Blue Barry)
