I figured I'd post this separate from my build thread so people would see the topic. Anyway, I ordered this replacement drivers side quarter panel for my 64/65/66/67 mutt. This is the part I ordered https://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC-111-809-021 For a 61-67 beetle. This is what I just received tonight.. which upon inspection looks to be almost the same as what is on the car and what the picture shows
But if you notice, the sticker from Brazil says "71-76"... This doesn't quite look like the quarters online for those years... Is this the wrong part??? Am I going to have to go through the hassle of returning this giant sheet of metal? I'm confused |

Main issue I see is that is a late model bumper mount, completely wrong for a 61-67, but probably not too much of a problem to correct if you're inclined to do so. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

They do show that bracket on the product picture for the 61-67 quarter on cip1. I'm personally not too concerned with it to be honest, I bought the car as a mutt to do a ground-up rebuild for a daily driver. As long as it fits (as well as a repo part can anyway), I'll use it... I just dont know if it will |

yes the bumper mounts are different. It is though a simple job to remove the later mount and fit the earlier on the inside _________________ CGLI qualified body repair and refinish tech

The Brazilian beetle used the 58-64 style to around 1973 when they updated to 68-up sheet metal, bumpers, and 4 lug rims. According to Wikepedia at least. So what you have may be correct. I'm thinking of purchasing the same sheet metal so I'll be watching the updates. I thought you had the front clip in already? |

Yes. Just save yourself work and buy this- http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC%2D111%2D809%2D131%2DA
Weld it into place once you have the QP fitted as well as the front apron so that you can test-fit the bumper onto the bracket and make certain the bumper is level.
You can either insert plastic plugs into the outer bumper bracket holes of the new QP and seal them, or adapt a horn bracket to bolt on to two of the 3 bolt holes. |

I'm curious about the bolt size on those captive nuts. Are they 13 wrench size or 10 wrench size?
Reason being I've seen a '66 German car that had 10s. |
