Well, I'm getting closer to the time when I have to replace this and I need some advice. Should I replace the whole thing or splice it somewhere? Here's my current situation.
I was thinking of splicing it about halfway through the top half of it... so about 1/4 of the way down Right about where this line is-
The remaining original part should keep the car in alignment. After that's done, I can get the heater channels in...about 1 1/2 years later than I planned. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

Also avoid cutting through the stampings, it won't show as much. _________________ '63 Ragtop |

You guys are positive its 8.75"... it seems like the heater channel in the car is 1" too high and the firewall goes down farther than the wheelhouse. I decided to only half replace it. No rust on the top. I'm filling in the holes from the spot welds. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

This is why track welds were invented...
