Hello everyone, new to Samba but old on buses...
Somewhat stumped here,
When the key goes on the light for the turn signals is on (light green), when turn signal engaged light gets brighter but no turn signal.
OK to answer some questions...
. All lights work correctly, parking, low and high beams
. Flashers work fine all 4 lights blink as advertised.
. Checked all grounds ( I think)

Suggestions?

Thanks

Daniel

Try cleaning the electrical contacts at the turning signal stick. Remove the steering wheel, disassemble the sticks and knobs, clean clean clean!

I'd start with replacing the turn signal fuse. Position depends on year.

The 4 way flashers use a different fuse.
The turn indicator led on the dash doesn't use any fuse.
The turn indicator blinks opposite to the outside turn lights.

Since the indicator light gets bright when he flips the turn signal lever on that shows the lever switch is doing something.

First try a new fuse in slot #19.

Slot #1 is far left end, slot #22 is far right end.

Hi Bamboo,

I'd start with crazy's idea first.

Hello everyone, after going thru one more time.
Disconnected the turn signals at the steering wheel and green LED still on.
Is this normal?

Also, left side front light holder was rough, the rubber boot all torn. Regardless, still working fine. ( bought a new anyway).

How is this green LED powered? if I were to disconnect all the light switches, will still be on? Question

thank you
Daniel

Crusty connection somewhere, ground crown above fuse block?
Leaks will get into that area, but also just living here in the Islands, is like one big leak!! Especially with our weather this year, a wet one.
Clean and replace any connections that are suspect.

Ok I just wanted to second the ground rings or trees as a common source for turn signals and other electrical issues with the instrument panel. My turn signals quit blinking and the green dash indicator would come on when I did the switch and no lights flashed. The hazards flashed correctly and markers worked with the headlights. I tried replacing the switch on the column to no avail. I should have tried the ground rings first. It would have cost me only time under the dash and one of those packets of electro gel from the auto parts counter.

There are two rings that are screwed to the body above and left of the fuse panel. Undo your negative battery strap, drop the fuse panel and you can get a Phillips screw driver in there to remove the ground rings. Pull all the brown wires with needle nose first and replace any of the female connectors that seem easy to pull off or break when you squeeze the tabs a little with pliers. Several of mine broke or were loose. I sanded the ring’s male tabs well and scraped the paint where the screw enters before replacing. Silicone electro gel isn t a bad idea either to keep it from corroding later.

The ring cleaning also got my washer pump to work which I had been stumped on after getting an 8 volt reading at the two wires at the pump when I did the washer switch on the column.
