Hello all,
New here but not new to Beetles. Anyway, as the title says, I need to find an
LED flasher module for my 2012 Beetle. Replaced all the bulbs in the rear
light (Sylvania OSRAM:tail, directional, backup). Everything is working OK but
the dash flash indicator is "hyper-flashing" and I cannot seem to locate an
LED flasher module on the web. A part number and supplier would be helpful.
Local VW dealer, although generally very good, hasn't a clue.
Anyone? Thanks! |

Did you check all of the bulbs? Front and back? A "hyper-flashing" is usually and indicator of a burnt bulb in newer vehicles. _________________ Eric

Not too sure of where to source an LED flasher relay for that year.
This is the 1968 and up aircooled forum.
Perhaps the boys in the 'watercooled' forum could be of help for you:

Not sure where you are located??
The "EP-35" model flasher relay has been confirmed to be LED compatible and works as a replacement for the 3-prong Beetle flasher relay.

If your Mexi-Beetle(?) uses a different model flasher relay then you will need to provide more info (flasher relay part#, number of prongs, layout, terminal numbers, etc.) _________________ AshMan40

If your car is a water cooled New Beetle, get rid of the LED bulbs. There is no LED flasher relay available for these cars due to the fact that the "flasher" is actually the Hazard switch that is tied into the multifunction switch (turn signal/wiper/cruise switch). _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

OK everyone, thanks for the replies. Sorry about the wrong forum,
remember, I'm new here. ALL bulbs are working "normally", it is just the
dashboard
directional flasher indicators that are "hyper-flashing." I know that hyper-
flashing usually means a burned out bulb somewhere, but all are good.
I put "working normally" in quotes because these are supposed to be
"super
bright" but to me they are dimmer then the replaced incandescent bulbs.
So much so that I thought they weren't lighting at all!
One of my pet peeves with this car was the anemic back-up lights.
When I had to replace a burned out brake light I discovered there are
super-bright LED replacements for all bulbs so my mission was initially to
finally get some brighter back-up lights, and I figured that replacing tail and
directional bulbs with super-bright LEDs too wouldn't hurt.
Anyway, "super-bright" LEDs are a super disappointment (with the back-up
lights being the exception.) So, TDCTDI, I am going back to the
incandescents, except for the back-ups. Thanks again everyone.
BTW, it is a water-cooled 2012 2.5L, 5 speed manual transmission,
purchased "used" two years ago. Great car! |

Well, if anyone is still with me, I have replaced all the LEDs with OEM incandescents (except back-ups, which are great)
and all is right with the world again.
Thanks everyone! |
