They bought a sailboat and are keeping it at Shilshole Bay Marina in Ballard.

It’s be neat to see a global heat map of Vanagons. In the meantime, will you just travel the planet and report your observations? Very Happy

Man, Lakeside/Northside is turning out to be the place in town to see these things. I know of about eight that live in the area in addition to the ones I spot rolling around. Probably helps that I'm on this drag almost daily, thanks to the dog's park schedule. I'm hoping this one is the Tornado Red that disappeared from my work neighborhood several years ago. Nice machine, original owners, but it was having some serious problems they did not want to tackle and they sold it. I should have stopped to talk with the guy but the bride was along and a photo op is about all she allows when she's not feeling vanly.

Another Westy shows up in town. The guy who has two grey '87s like my own now has a blue one. I asked his wife about this one and she said this is the fourth. He's evidently developed a real Westy habit and appears to be putting the same wheels on each one. It's getting hard to keep up with his fleet.

Didn't have my camera with me.
Well used white Westy with Idaho plates and loads of stickers on the rear window parked in the Kimberley Alpine Resort dirt parking lot.

Up enjoying a beautiful BC day! Skis or snowboard?

So after heading down to Santa Barbara, we returned to Pinnacles NP and stayed in the same spot (#75 is a good one) and another Vanagon camped a few spots down (at the end of the road). This was a clean looking rental from Outwesty.com.

The repair place on Lakeside, while not a Washington State Ferry, is proving to be a gold mine for Vanagon spotting. This '88 showed up while one that I posted earlier is still there. This one is pretty beat, with seam and window rust and missing its luggage rack. Quite a project for somebody.

I64 East bound near Williamsburg Virginia. I was doing 65 mph in my Passat and he passed me. Tied to get his attention to give him a “thumbs-up”, but he was very focused, and never looked over....

The curtains are drawn, so I strongly suspect nefarious activities within.

Seattle to Brigham City, UT
778 miles
Splittie, a Loaf, & three Eurovans but haven’t seen one Vanagon... Rolling Eyes

——-

Update: Finally saw the first two two (wicked, loaded!) westies within 150 miles of Moab (my destination). Also saw 2 more loaves and another splittie.
