Oh Happy Day I love checking things off the list. This has been a long time coming, but finally have the main repairs done to the chassis.
All the frame rails have been repaired, the cross members replaced, treasure chest I beams, outriggers, jack points, control tubes and heater tubes. Etch primed, seam sealed and painted with gray enamel.
A few before shots for a quick comparison

Those photos make me feel like I'm looking under a restoration at the Smithsonian in DC. |

This old truck has had 5 coats of paint on the bed, two of which are a gummy, brushed on thick enamel. Last fall I did a test area with the sand blaster and it was taking an enormous amount of material and time to remove this paint, so I stopped. I've tried a few different ways to remove the paint and the best bang for the buck is hand stripping with a "hamburger wheel"
Still time consuming, but believe it or not, it is faster than the sand blaster was moving.
The small dents will be overlooked, but there were some huge dents where something very heavy must have been dropped on the bed. These areas were pushed back up with a combination of heat and a jack in the treasure chest area.
