We have heard how these chassis were sometimes used for later test vehicles, perhaps that is the intent here, put it with another non-1937 body? |

Finally we'll see one of those with the right proportions!
Not sure if telling us would be a spoiler, but did you guys unearthed any other surviving original parts from the prototypes? Not that it matters, but since the 38/6 thread, I wont be surprised if a door or an entire bonnet comes up!
Can't wait to see which colour you will choose... whichever it is, I'll respray my scale model accordingly =) |
A couple things i know for sure,
1. these guys work fast, and do amazing work.
2. if any parts exist, they know about them or have them.
3. they don't start a build until they have everything they need.
4.they keep secrets well.
just hang in there, i can guarantee it will be a worthwhile read, with plenty of surprises . |

I know, but I'm a typical Star Trek fan, always looking for spoilers before the final release. And this build for me is like a crossover were they bring Shatner and Nimoy back, with a cameo from Patrick Stewart and Avery Brooks =) |

I been waiting to see pictures of this moment for a number of years and finally it happened. The chassis tunnel was opened up for cleaning, checking and repairs. Finally we see what a 1937 chassis looked like inside the tunnel.
The moment of truth!
Bottom plate removed and all the tubes finally exposed for the first time in 80 years!
Looking healthy
Brake cable tubes, copper fuel line and wiring harness tube.
From left to right:
Fuel line and brake cable tube.
Clutch cable tube, accelerator and choke cable tubes.
Hole for the shifter rod.
Wiring harness tube.
Tube for the cable that operates the starter switch.
Brake cable tube.
Fuel line exit point on the frame fork.
Shifter mounting point and shift rod holder.
Hand brake mounting point.
Tube for the cable that operates the starter switch and choke cable tube.

Some small updates.
First test pressings of floor pan ribs.
and cross-members
The nose-job is also getting there.

More progress. The pans are being made up of several pieces just like originally. The pieces look flimsy by themselves but once it is all welded up and hefty cross-members added the whole floor structure will be as strong as ever.

Stunning work!
Is there any plan what components as engine, axle and gearbox will be used? Did anything else pre 1938 survived like these cylinderheads in 1960?
I wonder if they are still there and if more parts survived... |

Supposedly there were other parts attached to or found with this chassis but those have yet to be revealed. _________________ Chris

Store some of the dust left over from the sanding, so I can put it in the paint for my model =) |

Finally the left hand side floor-pan is getting finished. All the ribs are reproduced exactly as on the original chassis. Each panel is welded to form the length of the floor. Sturdy cross-members are then welded from the bottom to give rigidity. Notice how the sides of the floor pan are parallel.

Thanks Undis!
Any chance of getting a close-up of the board with photos and diagrams that they are presumably using to assist them? |

Most of the photos were already posted at the beginning of this thread. That's the reference being used in this reconstruction. We are lucky to have plenty of detailed technical photos of the early chassis. |
