I know the M157 designation was to denote smog control emissions on the respective engines. What modifications exactly did it involve? Thx

Parts manual says this:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

But, I wonder if it also included throttle positioner which slowed throttle return to reduce emissions.

That would be a different M code, 157 applies to the vapor recovery system only.

Thanks! I wonder what they mean by "exhaust control system" -- if that's the charcoal canister or something else. EDIT: never mind busdaddy answered my question. Smile
There's a guy selling a complete long block along with intake, muffler, tins, shroud, and generator for $300 close by me-- the block is a B series with that M157 designation so just wanted to make sure it would work with my setup if I picked it up as a spare. Since it apparently has nothing to do with the engine itself I should be good. Thx all

That image quote above is 14 (Ghia) by the way.

And it's wrong. There was no "vapor recovery" from the fuel tank when that code started its existence. At that time, it was the crankcase breather. I do think it was meant to include all the various USA emissions variations, like that throttle positioner.

I do not know how to fix this. All I can say is it all works fine for me with what I use, Firefox.
