Finally watched this last night... I wonder if someone on the show'd production staff is a Samba member or certainly a VW nut... if they just wanted to show a VW for cuteness or retro appeal, they would have chosen a Bug or Bus. But they chose a notch... not sold here, and the scene in the movie is before the square and fasty were available, so they thought to use a notch, and furthermore to put Euro plates on it... a lot of thought for just a moment!
Also, one other VW sighting, in the parking lot at the NASA facility... the only one in a lot full of American cars! |

TV show Engineering Catastrophes on the Science Channel is about a guy who has his office in his bus as he goes around the world explaining how, why and what happened in different disasters. In one episode he used a split window bus in a cartoon style diagram to explain how road noise travels and is increases next to buildings.

Not that I watch this show, but a couple weeks ago I was flipping through channels and came upon the pre-credits sequence of the ABC show Deception, showed an internet conspiracy theorist get blown up in his Super... or maybe he just had a fuel filter in the engine bay

Watching the YouTube Red TV show Cobra Kai: Flashback to 1979 shows a nice VW vert on the side of the road:
BTW, if you haven't seen this show, it is a great extension of the Karate Kid story. I had my doubts, but it is WAAAAAYYY better than it has any right to be. _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.

I am really happy to hear this. I watched the preview and couldn't tell if it was the greatest idea ever or a complete turd. I'm excited to check it out now. _________________ Donate to TheSamba.com

Saw this panel camper on the California Water Supply episode of the show 'Abandoned' on Vice:
In this shot, it almost looks like the bus is jacked up:
They said this part of the show took place in a small town called Keeler, California so maybe this one is still out there? |

That is Hailee Steinfeld, the lead actress in the movie Bumblebee which will debut on December 21. The movie is a prequel to the 2007 Transformers movie. The Bumblebee robot takes the form of a '67 Beetle seen in the photo with Hailee.
There's a trailer from the movie at this link: https://auto.ndtv.com/news/bumblebee-turns-into-a-...ie-1863384

My 1972 Super in the Netflix series, "Flaked". It stars Will Arnett from Arrested Development and it's all about the Venice Beach life. I live in Venice so they're always blocking off the road & putting up "no-parking" signs in front of my house to film various movies and TV shows. Filming for this show had wrapped for the day & the cameras were put away so the crew let me move my beetle back in front of my house. When I went inside, they unpacked the cameras to re-film the shot with my car because low and behold, there she is.

Likely been posted before, but I just started watching "The Man in the High Castle" on Prime, and it takes place in 1962 with Germans controlling 2/3 of the US and fair amount of beetles shown. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each.
