Interesting pict... The beetles are standards.. the Hebmuller has strange wheel painting and no Heb logo. So it must be a real early heb. As the beetles has no export trim... it must been june 49. _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

The Heb might be this one :

Note the prices written onto the side windows. 7500 Marks we would love to pay today for a Heb. _________________ Master of my domain! |

Carsten, You might be correct. But I think it is one of the 25 vorserie auto's to be shown around Germany at dealers.. Maybe that is why there is no Heb logo.. Maybe not allowed at that point. _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

Even though Volkswagen turned to coachbuilders, these models were still considered part of its product line. You would be buying a Volkswagen 2-seat convertible, not a Hebmuller. Also, even though an official export model had not yet been introduced, the fancier version with chrome handles was ordinarily exported. Finally, a close examination of the source photo reveals that the small VW logo on these early Hebmuller hubcaps appears to match the early VW logo on the wall, with the tips of the "W" squared off and not connected to the outside ring. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

You can tell that by the pic above?
I can not see that. Even looking close up.
Do you have it in a better resolution?
If it is the car from my other post, the hubcaps look like that.
Looking normal, or? But pressed very deep and strong.

7500 marks in late 1949 exchanged to $637. Allowing for inflation, today that equates to a current dollar value of only $6664!!
Hard to believe they were that inexpensive. A current new model beetle costs four times as much in comparison! |

Actually that quote came from Carsten, not me (giving credit where credit is due), and to answer Carsten's question, yes I did have a somewhat higher resolution photo, but I reduced the size to post here, and didn't save the original image. I thought about posting a thread about the hubcap, but frankly, I believed that you guys had seen it all before, and there was nothing new to show. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

I am guessing the exchange rate was not favorable to Germany at that time, which may explain what sounds like a very low price in US $. _________________ How to Post Photos

Regarding the cost of the cars above - I have seen somewhere that in 1950 a Beetle cost the average worker in Germany 1.5 years salary... |

Anymore information on that ambulance beetle? Does anybody have other photos?
