|
Iam presently restoring a July 52 Split. It has the factory crash box and I R S suspension.
I feel that both rear wheels are cambered out at the top of wheels a lot.
Is there an adjustment for this?
Is this normal ?
Or will it settle down with time ?
Any help is appreciated. _________________ Currently restoring a 1953 11g in metallic blue.

while your split is likely equipped with a swing axle rather than IRS, the adjustment would be the same either way.
take the wheel off, take the torsion bar cover off, pull the spring plate off, adjust the torsion bar to your liking. Plenty of youtube videos covering this on a beetle.

I would be curious to see a crashbox IRS setup, though _________________ regards

yes as split dog noted above, it will drop and de-camber when you set the body/full interior on it.
That being said, a stock height split beetle will have a little bit of positive camber at its correct ride height. The wheels should NOT be perfectly plumb. _________________ drive your split. |
