Here's my vintage key fob. And It comes with a cool story. One day (couple years ago) I was over at my girlfriend parents house. Her dad said he had something he wanted to give to me. It was a little leather Key fob. He said that he's had if for 30-40+ years. I looked at it real quick and I could tell it was old and said thank. Later that evening I was telling myself that it looked familiar, It was bugging my that I couldn't remember where I seen it before. Her dad said that I may have seen it laying on his desk. A couple days later I remembered! It was in my 54 Owner's manual on page 6 and 8.
I then took a real close look and noticed that It had some words and a VW logo on it. It's hard to see, but it's there.
Here what it says - VW Volpert & Bisinger. Bad Soben Ts. Kronberg Ts. Did a search online and It looks like the dealership or Autohaus is still in buisness.
I went back to show her day. He said that He didn't remember it having a VW logo on it or remember where he got it. They travel alot in Europe, I'm sure thats where he picked it up. He's never owned a VW. _________________ Der

The pink one was from A-1 Import in Moscow Idaho, where I bought some parts in the late nineties. It has been on the key of my 15 window since. The writing has worn off. That place was owned by a guy who used to work at a local dealership, and bought a bunch of their parts stock when they closed up.
I just found the one for German Car Service in a box of parts in my garage. It was a local shop that is no longer in business, owned by a grumpy old German man. The shop was located on the road that used to be the highway before they built the interstate.
There used to be tons of independent VW shops like that.

Titanium bottle opener. Add to not vintage (yet), and to not vw but, practical.

BoB – those tags are cool and the graphics even better!
There was a similar program in the US where one could drop a found set of keys in any mailbox and they would be returned to the owner. Here is one on my grandfather’s key chain. Of course, nowadays the idea of putting your plate number onto your key ring seems kind of quaint.
As for VW related key fobs, I have a few. The Bosch fob was a freebee from my FLAP store – it’s been on every VW I owned.
The dealer fob came from an estate sale I went to a couple years ago. Paid $1 for it.
